Pride Africa

The Annual Pride Africa Gathering is the flagship convening of the Pride Africa movement, bringing together LGBTIQ+ activists, organisers, cultural workers, researchers, allies, and partners from across the continent. More than a conference, the Gathering is a politically grounded space for collective reflection, strategic alignment, visibility, and celebration. It is intentionally designed as a safe and affirming environment where queer Africans can connect across borders, share lived experiences and knowledge, strengthen solidarity, and collectively advance strategies for liberation, dignity, and justice within diverse and often hostile contexts.

Each Gathering is guided by Pride Africa’s vision, mission, and principles, ensuring that the programme blends plenaries, strategy sessions, cultural expression, and community healing spaces, centring voices from the most marginalised communities. Strong attention is given to care, accessibility, and security, alongside logistical coordination, including travel, accommodation, visas, and procurement, to enable meaningful and equitable participation. Through careful curation and execution, the Annual Gathering serves both as a moment of collective power and as a catalyst for year-round movement-building, collaboration, and action across the Pride Africa network.
